Expansion of our kerbside recycling service

More households in Cumberland now benefit from an improved kerbside recycling service.

Some rural households have recycling collected for the first time, and some have their service expanded to the whole list of recyclables, including TetraPak, plastics, tin, cans, glass, cardboard and paper.

Recycling bins continue to be delivered to affected households.

Residents are advised to only place recycling in the bins provided.

Safer working

We are making our waste and recycling collections safer for their staff and the public.

To ensure collections are safe, we have brought in more stringent practices when crews are reversing vehicles. This is to ensure the safety of their staff and the public.

We are assessing how collections can be made in accordance with the new health and safety guidance. Properties are in the process of being allocated a vehicle that is able to safely carry out the collection.

We are putting in place temporary measures to enable collections to happen and ask that households leave out their waste and recycling for collection as normal. We will endeavour to then collect, with a reasonable amount of excess bags, as quickly as they can.
