New play area design for Maryport

Ahoy there me hearties - here’s your new adventure playpark!

The design of a new play park in Maryport has been revealed after more than 1,500 people voted in a public consultation.

A pirate-themed adventure play area will be built on the site of the ageing Shiver Me Timbers park on the town’s harbourside.

Connecting Cumbria celebrates progress on its Digital Infrastructure Strategy

Digital infrastructure, both fixed line broadband and mobile connectivity, has become increasingly critical for all residents, businesses and visitors in Cumbria. Since launching the Digital Infrastructure Strategy in November 2020, Connecting Cumbria, working on behalf of Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council has made significant progress in delivering projects and programmes to improve connectivity across the county.

Rare Roman discovery found in Carlisle

A rare archaeological object - thought to be the only one of its type in the former Roman Empire - has been discovered in Carlisle.

Roman Imperial Purple - Tyrian Purple - paint pigment was found as part of the city’s Uncovering Roman Carlisle project.
