Applicable amounts

The applicable amount is the amount of money the government believes you, your partner (if you have one) and your family (if applicable) need to meet your necessary weekly costs.

Personal allowances

If you're adding personal allowance for a child or young person, you must receive Child Benefits for them.

If you are 60 years of age or over, the personal allowance may not apply to you right away. This is due to the equalisation of state pension age.
