Vandalism is illegal.
Graffiti and flyposting are both criminal offences.
Graffiti
Graffiti is any drawing, painting or messages that are written, painted or carved on public and private surfaces without the permission of the property owner.
Graffiti on:
- public buildings will be removed
- private building is the responsibility of the owner
Fly posting
Flyposting is posters, stickers or signs that often advertise events.
They are put on walls, windows and other surfaces without the permission of the property owner.
We can take action against those responsible for fly posting and remove illegal posters and placards. We will recover the costs from those who have displayed them, or cause them to be displayed.
Leaving leaflets on car windows is also an offence under the Road Traffic Act as it obstructs the view of the driver.
