The Cumberland Social Car Scheme provides door‑to‑door transport for people who are unable to access public or private transport, helping them attend medical and health‑related appointments and stay connected to essential services. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to support journeys such as GP, hospital, dental and optician appointments, as well as pharmacy visits and other essential trips. The service operates across Cumberland, subject to volunteer availability. Passengers pay a small mileage‑based contribution. Concessionary bus passes cannot be used.
