We offer long term loan collections, continuing professional development and library support.

Secondary school long term loan collections

Taking books out on a long term basis is much more cost effective than buying them and having to replace them as subject requirements change or when the material becomes dated.

Our stock is selected and continually updated by specialist staff. We ensure the best possible coverage and guarantee a wide choice of up-to-date resources.

All or part of the collection can be exchanged during the year. 

Continuing professional development

Continuing professional development (CPD) is a great way to network with secondary school library staff across Cumberland and keep up to date with all the latest initiatives.

A subscription to this services includes:

  • the opportunity to attend 3 half-day continuing professional development (CPD) meetings per year
  • access to key reports, new research and publications
  • loan of professional resources
  • notes from each of the CPD meetings whether you've been able to attend in person or not to ensure you are kept up-to-date with current practices, trends, new initiatives and more

Library support and development

We can help create a school library that is appealing and accessible to all; a fun space for enjoying books and reading and designed to have a positive impact on learning.

The library support and development service can be tailored to meet your needs. We provide things like:

  • stock management and development
  • assistance with raising the profile of the library within school
  • assistance with library policies and development plans
  • planning and undertaking self-evaluation
  • training for those new to post or library assistants
  • library design
  • practical help as agreed

Project boxes

If you need extra resources for a specific project you can borrow a box of books.

You can borrow a box of relevant and up-to-date books on this topic to supplement your own library stock ensuring your library is supporting the curriculum needs of your school.
Project boxes are borrowed for one term with delivery and collection direct to your school.

One box will contain 15 books. Extra resources can be borrowed at an additional cost.
