We offer a range of services to help schools develop libraries, promote reading for pleasure, and provide engaging learning experiences.
Improve your school library
Our specialist team can help with all aspects of library development, including:
- advice on layout and design
- assessing and improving your stock
- organising your library and cataloguing books in your library management system
- delivering library skills sessions
- training for pupil librarians
Personalised book ordering
We offer a tailored book ordering service. This includes:
- a one-day visit to audit and assess your current stock
- identifying gaps and prioritising spending
- creating an order based on your budget
Books arrive within a few weeks with free plastic jackets, spine labels, and Accelerated Reader (AR) levels where appropriate.
Bag Books: multi-sensory storytelling
Bag Books use interactive, multi-sensory objects with voice and emotion rather than words and pictures. They help students:
- respond to stimuli
- develop turn-taking
- take part in shared activities
- enjoy stories in an engaging way

Key stage 1 reading challenge
This summer term challenge aims to:
- motivate children to read regularly
- encourage reading for pleasure
- build confidence in talking about books
- support literacy and comprehension
- raise the profile of reading at school and home
Spellbinding
Our annual book award and reading challenge for years 5 and 6 encourages children to read for pleasure and share their views.

Book Bus service
Our Book Bus brings thousands of titles to your school, including fiction, picture books, easy reads, and non-fiction. It helps:
- encourage reading for pleasure
- give pupils a unique library experience

Chatterbooks reading groups
Chatterbooks is a national network of children’s reading groups run by the Reading Agency. We provide:
- resources to start your group quickly
- goodie bags for each child
- plenty of books to keep members engaged
- training from our Library Services for Schools team
Open to Local Education Authority schools and academies on a first-come, first-served basis.

Book banding
We can band your school’s books by reading level.
