Cumberland Council has announced that it is investing £179,000 in a resurfacing project at Loweswater.

The resurfacing project will involve the use of high-quality materials and modern techniques to ensure that the road is durable and long-lasting. The council will be working closely with local residents and businesses to ensure that they are kept informed of any developments and that their needs are taken into account throughout the project.

The work started on Monday 19 June and will last for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

The Highways team are set to resurface approximately 5,500m2 of carriageway at Loweswater. Due to these works, there will be a full road closure in place. The road closure will be accompanied by a fully signed diversion route to assist drivers in finding an alternative route.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for their travel. They should also be aware of the diversion route and follow the directional signs.

Cumberland Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation during this time.

Councillor Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council’s Executive Portfolio Holder for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said:

“The resurfacing project and investment at Loweswater demonstrates Cumberland Council's commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient road network.

“I would like to thank the Highways team for their hard work, and also thank the residents, businesses and visitors for their patience and support while we improve the roads in our area.”
