People who live and work in Allonby are being asked to get involved and influence decision making.
A special event on Tuesday 2 December will ask residents what they love about the village, how it works for them and what could be done better. It will include an exploratory 'walkabout' and a workshop in the village hall.
The event will assess the social and physical aspects of living in Allonby, and ask whether the amenities and structure of the village serve residents' needs.
Gathering residents’ views will help the council make better informed decisions in the future, ensuring resources are targeted where they are needed most.
Event details:
- Tuesday, 2 December
- 10am
- Allonby Village Hall
The event will begin in the hall with a conversation about people's experience of living or working in Allonby.
Participants will then walk to the car park opposite Twentyman’s shop, observing and discussing elements of the village. On return to the village hall, there will be further discussion of people's views and how they can influence council decisions.
This process helps the council map what already exists, what works and what could make things better. It’s a fantastic opportunity for residents to make their voices heard in their community.
The event will be led by council staff, and local councillors will also be on hand to discuss people's views.
Tea, coffee and mince pies will be served in the hall after the walk.
This event is hosted by the Fells and Solway Community Panel and should last around 2.5hrs in total. Those with mobility issues are welcome to attend just the workshop parts of the event.
Anyone who would like to take part should email [email protected]. or just come along on the day.
