Cumberland Council has launched a new online eligibility checker, making it quicker and easier for residents to find out if they qualify for support to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
The user-friendly tool brings together two major schemes, the newly launched Warm Homes Local Grant and the ongoing Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Scheme, into one streamlined platform. This simplifies the process for residents to check their eligibility and register their interest in receiving support.
Both schemes aim to reduce fuel poverty and are available to private sector households. Eligibility is based on a range of factors including income, benefits, health conditions, and postcode, ensuring support is accessible to a wide range of residents.
Households that qualify could benefit from a variety of energy-saving improvements such as solar panel installation, home insulation, and heating system upgrades.
These measures are designed to help residents stay warm, lower their energy bills, and improve overall home comfort, especially during the colder months.
All Cumberland residents are encouraged to check their eligibility today. To learn more about the schemes and to use the new eligibility checker, visit Warm homes | Cumberland Council.
Councillor Emma Williamson, Cumberland Council Executive Member for Children's Services, Family Wellbeing and Housing, said:
“We know that many families and individuals are struggling with rising energy costs, and we’re committed to making it as easy as possible for people to access the support they need. This new online tool is a practical step forward, helping residents quickly find out what help is available and take action to make their homes warmer, healthier, and more affordable to run.
“At the same time, the schemes it connects people to are helping improve energy efficiency across the region, supporting a more sustainable way of living and contributing to a greener, low-carbon future for Cumberland.”
