Cumberland Council is asking Allonby residents to take part in a community conversation.
A detailed questionnaire asks anyone who lives and works in the village what they think is great about it, and what could be improved. It follows a recent engagement workshop and walkabout.
The survey, which covers all aspects of living in Allonby, is available here Improving Allonby | Let's Talk Cumberland until midnight on Monday, 12 January.
Cllr Tony Markley is Chair of the council’s Fells and Solway Community Panel, which is hosting the event and survey. He said: “We had lots of really useful feedback from our recent engagement event in the village. Now we want to reach more people by offering an online survey.
“We are looking for views on all aspects of village life – everything from how easy it is to get around, to whether green spaces are accessible and attractive.
“The survey also looks at local facilities such as doctors, shops and community groups, as well as the economy and housing. We want to understand opportunities for social interaction, how safe people feel in the community, and whether the village feels well cared for.
“This is your chance to tell us what you value about Allonby and share your ideas for making it even better. I’d encourage anyone who lives and works in the village to have their say.”
Cllr Justin McDermott, Executive Member for Public Health and Communities, said: "Across Cumberland, we are committed to putting local voices at the centre of everything we do. Initiatives like this are about empowering communities to shape their own future.
"By listening to residents and acting on their ideas, we can make decisions that truly reflect the needs and aspirations of the people who live and work here. The feedback we receive will directly inform our plans and help us deliver tangible improvements that make a real difference in everyday life.”
The findings from the event and survey will be shared at a drop-in event:
- Saturday, 24 January
- 10am until noon
- Allonby Village Hall.
The council will ask for people’s feedback on the results, and staff will be on hand to answer questions. There will be no formal presentations and people are welcome to drop in at any time between 10am and noon.
