Bridge Repair works scheduled for Warwick Church Bridge

Highways team member and van

Cumberland Council is set to carry out essential bridge repair works on the C1027 at Warwick Church Bridge from Monday 20 July 2026.

The works will improve the condition of the bridge and support safer journeys for residents, businesses and visitors. They are expected to last approximately two weeks, subject to weather and site conditions.

This work forms part of Cumberland Council’s wider £27.3 million investment in highways for 2026/27, including £2.85 million dedicated to residential and rural roads, supporting improvements across the network. This includes fixing potholes, resurfacing roads and enhancing drainage, footways, cycleways, bridges and other key infrastructure, helping to create a safer, more resilient and better-connected network for communities.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and the public, the works will be carried out under a formal road closure, with a clearly signed diversion route in place throughout the duration of the works. The full diversion route and map of the works can be viewed on One Network.

The road will be closed daily between 8.30am and 3.30pm and will reopen outside of these hours. Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

For residents and those requiring access, Cumberland Council will endeavour to accommodate needs where possible, and anyone with special access requirements is encouraged to get in touch.
