Residents are invited to find out more about how communities can respond during a crisis.

The Border, Fellside and North Carlisle Community Panel is hosting an event which will explain more about how communities can pull together during emergencies, as well as offer tips to householders.

The event is on Thursday, 12 February, from 10am until noon, at Downagate Community Centre, Warwick Bridge, Carlisle.

As extreme weather becomes increasingly common, Cumberland Council is keen to support householders and their communities in becoming resilient

The event will feature an officer from Cumbria CVS, talking about practical ways to prepare yourself and your home for emergencies.

A representative from ACTion with Communities in Cumbria will be on hand to explain more about how communities can create emergency plans, to become more resilient.

And a member of the Joint Emergency Management and Resilience Team will explain how community groups can become grass-roots hubs during emergencies. They will showcase the ‘Community Emergency Hub’ packs which enable local groups or venues to become a central point where people can meet, keep safe, access resources and share information in an emergency.

There is no need to book for this event, and both residents and community groups are welcome. For more information, email [email protected].

This event is hosted by Border, Fellside and North Carlisle Community Panel. It covers the wards of Belah, Stanwix Urban, Longtown, Brampton, Houghton and Irthington, Corby and Hayton and Wetheral
