Seaton event for young people and families

Young people in Seaton are being asked to step up and help decide what future services should look like.

An event next month will ask them what is good about the village, and what could be done to better meet their needs. The views gathered will help the council, police, organisations and residents make informed decisions, ensuring resources are targeted where they are needed most.

The event, hosted by the Workington Together Community Panel, is on

Wednesday, 18 February, 9.30 - 12.30pm

Meet at St Paul’s Church Hall, Saint Paul's Avenue

Free tea, coffee, and bacon sandwiches

The event will start with some discussions in the church hall, then participants will head out for a walk around the village, to see exactly how it works for young people.

Then there will be a workshop back at the village hall, where everyone can share their views and ideas and have them included.

This process helps the community map what services exist, what works and what gaps there are in provision. It is a vital opportunity for younger people to have a voice.

The event will be led by council staff, and local councillors, including Seaton ward member Cllr Jimmy Grisdale, will also be on hand to discuss people's views.

This event should last around 3 hours in total. Those with mobility issues are welcome to attend just the workshop parts of the event. Everyone in Seaton is welcome to join this event, not just young people and families.

People can also just come along on the day, but for catering purposes, it is helpful to know who will be there.
