Senior Teaching Assistant – Permanent (Part-Time)
Monday to Friday - 30 hours per week, Term Time Only plus INSET Days
Required from: September 2025
Salary: PCD 7 (Grade A), £27,711 per annum pro rata
Bransty Primary School is seeking a committed, experienced and NVQ Level 3 qualified Senior Teaching Assistant to support our growing team of dedicated staff. This is a permanent, part-time role for 30 hours per week, term-time only, starting September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with proven experience in a primary school setting, particularly with a strong understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will take on additional responsibilities to support children’s learning and well-being, and contribute to the leadership and development of our support staff team.
About the Role
Lead targeted interventions and group work across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
Provide high-quality 1:1 support for pupils with SEND, including ASC, medical or physical needs, and severe learning difficulties
Offer general classroom support and model best practices for apprentice support staff
Support planning and delivery under the direction of class teachers, but work independently when required
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the primary curriculum
Experience with phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc.) is highly desirable
Play a key role in supporting inclusive practice and nurturing pupil progress
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning
Has experience in a senior, lead, or mentoring TA role
Has strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and strategies for supporting SEND pupils
Is confident, proactive, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
Can lead small-group activities and model good practice for other support staff
Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and professional development
Is willing to undertake additional training to meet the needs of the children
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience supporting children with:
• Autism Spectrum Conditions
• Hearing impairments
• Physical or medical conditions
• Experience with planning and leading interventions
• Read Write Inc. or equivalent phonics programme training
