Stanwix School is seeking a Governance Professional to join our team and support strong governance and academy compliance across our school. We are looking for someone who can act as a co-ordinator of governance processes, support transparent decision-making, and help ensure that governance practice aligns with current academy and DfE expectations.

Working closely with the Head Teacher and Chair of Governors, this is a key role where you will be required to provide high-quality scheduling, administration and minute-taking duties. You will be responsible for ensuring that organised and structured agendas are in place throughout the academic year which reflect the requirements as set out in the Academy Trust Handbook (and associated documents).

Key Responsibilities
•    Provide procedural and statutory advice to the Governing Board, ensuring governance operates in line with legislation and best practice.
•    Organise and clerk all full governing body and committee meetings, including accurate minute-taking and timely distribution.
•    Work in partnership with the Headteacher on:
•    Maintaining statutory records (e.g. membership, registers of interest, attendance, meeting calendar)
•    Policy and website compliance tracking
•    Administrative compliance activities
•    Manage governor communication, document storage (GDPR-compliant), and training records.
•    Support a governance culture that is transparent, inclusive, and reflective of the school’s vision.
•    Commit to ongoing CPD in line with national guidance (e.g. NGA Career Pathway).

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
•    Has experience in administrative, governance, compliance or coordination roles.
•    Is highly organised, efficient, able to work on their own initiative and meet deadlines.
•    Demonstrates excellent written communication, record-keeping, and digital literacy. Is able to offer advice and guidance to support Trustees in their decision-making process. Understands or is willing to learn the Academy Trust Handbook, DfE guidance, and Ofsted expectations related to governance.
•    Is committed to making a positive contribution to our inclusive and ambitious school community.


Working Pattern
Approximately 3 hours per week term time (flexible), including:
•    Attendance at evening governing body and committee meetings (some online, some face-to-face).
•    Regular planning meetings with the Headteacher.
•    Remaining hours for meeting preparation, follow-up, and compliance work to be worked flexibly.

Salary
BS8 ( B) per annum pro rata (£31,586 FTE)
