Permanent Part Time Cook In Charge

Required from November 2025 or sooner

Wigton Nursery and Infant School is a friendly and vibrant school. The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic school cook to plan, prepare and cook high quality, healthy meals for our pupils, complying with School Food Standards and Health and Safety Regulations.  Our current uptake of school meals is around 130 daily.

OP5 (FTE salary £25,183 pro rata, £13.05 per hour)
Hours:     8am – 1.30 pm Monday to Friday term time only plus additional working days in school holidays (27.5 hours per week)

The successful candidates will:

•    hold a Level 2 Food hygiene and Allergens qualification
•    Be willing to undertake relevant training when required and ideally have experience of working in a busy kitchen
•    Have good organisation skills
•    Have good communication skills both with adults and children
•    Be effective at leading a small team

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to complete a safeguarding declaration form.

The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate checks and undertake an enhanced DBS and, where appropriate to the post, a requirement to complete a Childcare Disqualification declaration.
