Start Date: 6th January 2026 

PCD5 (£25, 989 per annum pro rata) Term time only + INSET, fixed term until 17th July 2026. 

Hours: 26 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (including a 30 minute lunch break) 

The Governors and Headteacher of Burgh by Sands School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, hardworking, caring and passionate Early Years Practitioner to work in our Early Years Class from January 2026. 

This temporary post, created due to changes in pupil numbers, offers a wonderful opportunity to work in our Nursery and Reception class, supporting children at the very start of their learning journey within a nurturing and engaging environment.

We are looking for someone who: 
•    Has a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their early learning and development. 
•    Holds a minimum of a Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent). 
•    Has experience of supporting children’s learning through play-based and structured activities in line with the EYFS framework. 
•    Demonstrates warmth, patience and excellent communication skills with children, staff, and parents. 
•    Can work effectively as part of a team to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. 
•    Has high expectations for all children and supports them to make excellent progress. 
•    Is flexible, proactive, and committed to the wider life of the school. 
•    Acts as a positive role model, demonstrating enthusiasm, reliability, and a caring approach. 
•    Has strong literacy and numeracy skills, with good written and verbal communication.
