Contract: Fixed term until 17th July 2026 (due to varying EHCP hours)

Work pattern: Part-time: 3 days 8:30am – 3:30pm and 2 days 8:30am – 12:30pm, including a 30 minute lunchtime duty each day (days negotiable)

Hours: 27.5 hours per week, term time only (38 + 1 week INSET)

The Governors and Headteacher of Burgh by Sands School are seeking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Year 1 with Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

The role will involve working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals to deliver targeted support and ensure positive outcomes for the child.

We are looking for someone who will:

• Provide high-quality 1:1 support to a pupil with identified special educational needs, following EHCP targets.

• Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo and external agencies to adapt learning and monitor progress.

• Use effective communication strategies to promote understanding, engagement and independence.

• Support social, emotional and behavioural development in a nurturing, consistent way.

• Create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment.

• Support at lunchtimes as part of the contracted hours.

• Hold a relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification or higher.

• Have experience of working with pupils with SLCN and ASC.

• Be calm, patient, resilient and flexible, with the ability to adapt to the child’s needs.

• Work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with staff and parents.

• Demonstrate commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils.

• Be enthusiastic, motivated and fully prepared to contribute to the wider life of the school.
