Crosthwaite Road, Keswick Informal Consultation

Cumberland Council is seeking feedback on proposed changes to the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) and wider improvement works at Crosthwaite Road, Keswick, as shown on the consultation plan.

As part of works to install a new pedestrian island, construct a short section of new footway, and improve pedestrian safety, the Council proposes to:

Extend an existing section of “No Waiting at Any Time” restrictions (double yellow lines); and
Introduce a new section of “No Waiting at Any Time” restrictions.

These measures are essential to ensure the safe operation of the new pedestrian facilities, maintain adequate visibility for all road users, and support the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, including emergency and public transport services.

To enable these works, an Ash tree will need to be removed. Cumberland Council does not undertake tree removal lightly; however, this tree is infected with Ash Dieback and would require removal in due course. Its removal at this stage will allow the scheme to proceed safely and efficiently while avoiding future disruption.

Residents and stakeholders are invited to provide comments or feedback before the proposals progress to the statutory consultation and advertisement stage.
