Information about the Carlisle Music Centre and our instrument hire scheme.

Carlisle Music Centre

One of the most important experiences for young musicians is to meet together and play together. As well as having fun and making friends, joining a group or band is key to improving as a musician and developing wider skills like teamwork, respect and concentration.

Carlisle Music Centre is led by expert tutors from Cumberland Music Service. All children and young people who are learning to play an instrument can benefit from high quality progression opportunities in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, whatever your instrument, there's a group for you.

Group sessions are held at Trinity School, Carlisle.

After school on Thursdays, during term time.

Carlisle Music Centre Groups

Carlisle Music Centre welcomes all young musicians to create and perform music as part of a group.

Junior Wind Band

4:45pm to 5:45pm

Brass, woodwind and percussion to Grade 2.

First access pupils / beginners are welcome.

Strings

4:45pm to 5:45pm

Violin, viola, cello, double bass and harp.

Open to all levels

First access pupils / beginners are welcome

Percussion

Temporarily unavailable.

Guitars

6:15pm to 7:15pm

Electric guitar and bass guitar Grade 3 plus.

Youth Concert Band

6pm to 8pm

For the more experienced musicians. Approximately Grade 3 and above.

Termly membership

£19 for the 1st child

£12 for the 2nd child

£10 for subsequent children

Each member can join as many Music Centre groups as they wish.

Fee remissions

Pupils in receipt of free school meals are entitled to a 50% discount on all fees.

All looked after children can attend free of charge.
