Community governance review (CGR) provide the opportunity to review and make changes to governance within a specified area.
Town and parish councils and residents of the community can request a review via a petition.
Reviews could look at:
- boundaries
- the number of councillors
- the creation of a parish council
- whether one council should merge with another
Considering reviews
They are usually carried out by a working group of councillors for the relevant area.
The group makes a recommendation which is voted on. The final decision is made by Cumberland Council.
