The service is for residents living in the Carlisle area.
The Advice Quality Standard (AQS) is a quality mark for organisations that provide advice on social welfare issues.
What advisors can help with
Advisors can give advice on claiming of benefits, including:
- income-related benefits such as Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- disability-related benefits such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Attendance Allowance
- help with Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction
- pension-age benefits such as Pension Credits
They can also:
- check whether you are receiving your correct benefit entitlement
- help with appeals, mandatory reconsiderations and reviews

The Benefits Advice Service is based at the Civic Centre, in Carlisle.
