Carlisle Register Office

Carlisle Register Office is based within Lady Gillford's House.

The office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

Attendance is strictly by appointment only - we do not offer a walk-in service.

Disabled access is available via a lift to the first floor.

A personal evacuation plan would be required for some users. You will need to discuss this with our ceremony team.

Free on-site parking is available.

Ceremony room

A beautiful panelled former billiard room, with a fireplace and stained glass windows, allowing natural light.

The ceremony room:

• is available Monday to Sunday
• holds a maximum of 60 people
• has large gardens and pergola, perfect for photographs

Theodosia Room

A beautiful, intimate space created especially for small statutory weddings and civil partnership ceremonies.

The Theodosia Room:

• will hold all statutory ceremonies
• is available Monday to Thursday before midday
• permits 2 guests who will act as witnesses

Garden gazebo

Beautiful rose covered gazebo set in Lady Gillford’s tranquil gardens. Available for celebration ceremonies including legal civil marriage/partnerships (weather permitting).

Outdoor ceremonies are recommended between late March through to early October.

The garden gazebo:

• is available Saturday and Sunday
• holds a maximum of 28 people
• allows well behaved dogs
