Appeal a business rate decision

You can challenge business rates relief decisions and your rateable value, but you must not withhold payment of your business rates pending your appeal.

To appeal a decision made by us regarding business rate relief, you should contact us setting out the reason why you are unhappy by emailing.

The VOA will review your case. If a change is required, they will let us know so that we can bill you accordingly. 

Rating advisers

You can challenge your rateable value yourself, or you can work with a rating adviser. If you decide to get the support of a rating adviser, it is advisable to choose someone who has the relevant knowledge and expertise as well as professional insurance, such as:
