This Cumberland Council service provides information and access to the NHS Healthy Start scheme, which supports eligible families with young children and pregnant people. The scheme offers a prepaid card worth up to £8.50 per week to spend on essentials such as cow’s milk, fresh/frozen/tinned fruit and vegetables, infant formula, and pulses. Families receiving Healthy Start payments can also collect free vitamins, including children’s vitamin drops (A, C and D) and women’s tablets (folic acid, vitamins C and D). Vitamins can be collected from midwives, Cumberland Libraries, and Family Hub sites.
