Grassroots Horticulture, Whitehaven

Grassroots Horticulture provides therapeutic gardening activities where people can develop practical skills, support their wellbeing and connect with others.

As a garden centre open to the public, Grassroots also gives people practical experience interacting with customers and contributing to the running of the centre.

Activities and support

People can:

• learn new skills
• build on existing skills
• support their health and wellbeing
• meet with other people and take part in their local community

Grassroots works with local organisations on community projects. Partnerships include Network Rail, the Re-Boot Programme and Cumbria in Bloom.

Staff communicate with each person in their preferred way and adapt activities to reflect their interests and goals.
