Great British Insulation Scheme

Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a government energy efficiency scheme to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce energy bills.

The scheme is available in Great Britain and is administered by Ofgem. It is funded by obligated Energy Suppliers and delivered by third-party installers. The current version is running until March 2026.

You could get free or cheaper insulation improvements if your home:

  • is in a Council Tax band A, B, C or D
  • has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government scheme supporting the decarbonisation of homes.

The scheme is available in England and Wales and is administered by Ofgem. It is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and is running until December 2027.

You could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump or biomass boiler.
