How to get here

The library is on Vulcans Lane.  On street parking. Various public pay car parks.

Bus every 20 minutes between Workington and Maryport (Service 30, 31 and 300). Bus station opposite library approximately 100 yards away.

Trains from Carlisle and Barrow in Furness and all stops in between.

Do you have a visual impairment or sight loss? Come along and join our group for social connections and support. 

When:  Every Tuesday - fortnightly 11am to 1pm

English Café

A friendly environment to practice your English, play games, have a coffee and explore our resources. For people who do not speak English as their first language. 

When:  Every Thursday 10am to 12pm

Rhyme Time

Regular rhyme session for under 5`s with their parent/carer.

When: Every Friday in term time 11am to 11.30am

Storytots    

Regular story sessions for under 5`s with their parent/carer.

When: Every Tuesday in term time 10.30am to 11am

Intergenerational Chess Club

Come and play chess in a friendly atmosphere. Boards and pieces are provided, and all ages 8+ and abilities welcome.

When: Wednesday 4pm to 5:30pm

Board games

Join us for some fun and competitive board gaming. Suitable for all ages.

When: Every Thursday 2pm to 4pm

Lego Club

Lego themed fun for children over 5. This is an unsupervised activity so parents and carers need to stay and join in with the construction work.

When: Every Saturday 10 to 11:30am 

Piece and quiet

Join us for a day of putting jigsaws together. Drop-in anytime. Suitable for all ages.

When:  Every Friday all day

Mindful Monday

Colour yourself to calm. Join us every Monday for the soothing art of colouring.

When:  Every Monday 3pm to 4.30pm

Health and wellbeing coach drop-in

Support and guidance from a Cumberland Council Health and Wellbeing Coach.

When: By appointment only

This library provides:

  • Macmillan cancer drop-in and cancer awareness - this is through the Macmillan Cancer information Project
  • specialist collection of books and DVDs to answer questions on autism
  • dementia resource bags - these are aimed for use at home with individuals or family members affected by dementia to promote reminiscence or discussions

Books that can help with your health and wellbeing

Books can be recommended by GPs or other health professionals from the relevant Reading Well list.
