Road works sign

Cumberland Council is informing residents and businesses that there will be carriageway improvement works on Aglionby Street, Carlisle.

These works are scheduled to commence on Monday 30 October 2023 for five days and will conclude on Friday 3 November 2023.

The road improvements comprise of a carriageway overlay project which will enhance the road's durability and quality. This involves reshaping the road to improve drainage, replacing ironwork for future maintenance accessibility, and adding new line markings for parking bays.

To enable the council to complete works safely, they are asking residents to find alternative parking, as there will be a full road closure along Aglionby Street  between numbers 2 and 76.  There will be a diversion route along Warwick Road, Cecil Street and Brunswick Street – for full details please visit the One Network website.

The improvement works will be carried out under a daytime road closure from approximately 8am to 4pm, daily. The road will be accessible outside of these hours if it is considered safe.

If residents or businesses require access to their property, we kindly request that this is discussed with the Traffic Marshal who will be on site during the works, please be aware that there might be some delays accessing properties.

Access will be maintained for emergency services during the works.

Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while improvements are made to the road network and apologises for any inconvenience.
