Cumberland Council is excited to announce the launch of its winter Holiday Activity and Food programme. This initiative aims to provide a range of engaging activities and nutritious meals for eligible children during the upcoming Christmas holidays.

The Holiday Activity and Food programme is funded by the Department for Education and has been running since 2021. The scheme provides a wide range of activities during the school holidays and for each day young people attend they receive a warm nutritious meal.

Deputy Leader (Non-Statutory) of Cumberland Council and Executive Member for Children, Family Wellbeing and Housing, Cllr Emma Williamson, said “Cumberland Council is committed to reducing inequalities for all residents and particularly for our young people. The Holiday Activity and Food programme helps to alleviate hunger and provides opportunities to try new things, build skills, and make new friends.

“We look forward to collaborating with our enthusiastic community partner organisations, primary and secondary schools once again to provide this important support for families and young people this winter.”
