Cumberland Council is informing residents and businesses that there will be embankment repairs at Cairn Bridge near Warwick Bridge in Carlisle.

The embankment repairs are scheduled to start on Monday 24 July and will continue until approximately Wednesday 6 September, weather permitting.

To enable the council to complete works safely there will be a full road closure during the works, with a signed diversion route in place, through Warwick Bridge and How. Additionally, there will be a one-way system in place near How to ease congestion around the level crossing area.

People are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the designated diversion route.

If residents or businesses require access to their property, we kindly request that this is discussed with the Traffic Marshal who will be on site during the works.

Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while improvements are made to the road network and apologises for any inconvenience.

For more information, please contact Cumberland Council’s Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736 or visit the Cumberland Council websiteor go to the One Network website to see the full diversion route.
