Space event in Carlisle Cathedral

Tickets are still available for a spectacular light and sounds show set to be held at St Bees Priory next week.

The new Light District event has been lined up by Cumberland Council and will be held on the evenings of Thursday 14 and Friday 15 March.

Tickets for Space: God, The Universe and Everything cost £4 and are available to buy online at discovercarlisle.co.uk

Tickets are also available to buy in person, at Carlisle's Tourist Information Centre, The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven and St Bees post office.

Brought to St Bees, with the support of Cumberland Council’s Destination Management team, the event is produced by Luxmuralis.

Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council’s Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, said:

“Following the success of Carlisle City of Lights, more areas within Cumberland will form part of a series of events called The Light District.

“The St Bees Priory is an ideal location and is the latest location to host an event of this type.

“Get your tickets soon to avoid disappointment.”

There will be time slots between 6.30pm and 9pm each evening.

The Light District is a new Cumberland Council programme of events.

The council’s Discover Carlisle team, supported by funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, is working in partnership with Luxmuralis to showcase the events programme at different locations within the Cumberland area.

The St Bees event is organised with the support of St Bees School, St Bees Parish Council and Sellafield Ltd.

Doug Sim from St Bees Parish Council said:

"This will be the kind of dynamic light show that has never been seen in West Cumbria before.

“The 900-year-old priory will look stunning".

The Light District builds on the success of Carlisle City of Lights and Workington Hall Lights which have both been hugely popular over recent years.
