Successful completion of road improvements at Low Road and Monkwray Brow, Whitehaven.

Resurfaced Road

Cumberland Council is pleased to announce the successful completion of road infrastructure improvements at Low Road and Monkway Brow, Whitehaven.

Over £268,000 was invested by the council to ensure the success of this initiative. The improvements included resurfacing, involving a new 50mm road surface, existing road markings were refreshed, and ironwork replaced.

These improvements were carried out between February and March by the contractor DSD Construction Limited.

Both projects were delivered as part of the Department for Transport's (DfT) Pothole Fund. The Low Road project cost £146,000 and the Monkwray Brow project cost £122,000.

 

Cumberland Councillor Denise Rollo, Executive Member for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said:

“The resurfacing project and investment of £268,000 in Whitehaven demonstrates Cumberland Council's commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient road network.

“I would like to thank the Highways team for their hard work, and thank the residents, businesses and visitors for their patience and support while we improve the roads in our area, these projects make our roads smoother, safer, and easier for our community to use.
