Contractors working on the Carlisle Southern Link Road will shortly return to Ivegill Road to complete essential works, with closures carefully planned during half-term, evenings, and weekends to minimise disruption to Stoneraise School and local residents.
Cumberland Council can confirm the following programme of works at Ivegill Road between Durdar and Stoneraise School:
- 25 October to 2 November (Half Term) - During half-term, Ivegill Road will close. This will allow the Contractor to undertake the remaining drainage work that crosses the existing carriageway which cannot be completed without more than an overnight or weekend road closure.
- 3 November – 7 November - During the day, Ivegill Road will be open to traffic (07:00 - 19:00), however traffic lights will be in place so please allow a few minutes extra for your journey. During the night (19:00 - 07:00), Ivegill Road will close to complete the drainage works that require short overnight closures.
- 8 November – 9 November (Weekend) - Over the weekend, Ivegill Road will close to install the remaining fencing.
- 10 November – 14 November - During the day, Ivegill Road will be open to traffic (07:00 - 19:00), however traffic lights will be in place so please allow a few minutes extra for your journey. During the night (19:00 - 07:00), Ivegill Road will close to complete the surfacing of the road and the shared use path.
- 15 November – 16 November (Weekend) - Over the weekend, Ivegill Road will close to complete the earthworks and landscaping.
Although this is an outlined plan, Cumberland Council have reaffirmed the position they set out in September, that access to Stoneraise School will remain open for students and parents while the remaining essential works are completed.
Please note that the schedule may change depending on the weather, especially for drainage and surfacing works which are affected by rain and temperature. Any extra closures needed will be shared as soon as they’re confirmed.
