Cumberland’s commitment to quality care recognised by CQC

Cumberland Council is celebrating a strong endorsement from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which has awarded its North Supported Living Service a ‘Good’ rating in all key areas following a recent inspection.

This achievement highlights the Council’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for adults across Cumberland.

The service supports individuals with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, dementia, and physical or sensory impairments, empowering them to live independently in their communities.

The CQC praised the service for:

  • Putting people first – Staff were recognised for their compassionate, tailored support that respects each person’s choices and needs.
  • Prioritising safety – Inspectors found strong safeguarding measures and a culture that ensures those receiving support feel safe and cared for.
  • Strong leadership – The management team was commended for its clear vision, staff support, and drive for continuous improvement.
