Cumberland Council is urging residents affected by internal property flooding to report this as soon as possible so that support can be provided and resources directed where they are most needed.

The council understands how distressing and disruptive flooding can be for the community. During the recent flood events, Cumberland’s Lead Local Flood Authority team has already been made aware of 63 properties that have experienced internal flooding, and the data gathering is underway.

Residents can report property flooding  by completing the short online form on the council’s website or by emailing [email protected].

The council reminds residents that the Lead Local Flood Authority is not an emergency service, anyone in immediate danger should call 999.

For issues relating to highway be it roads or drains, residents and businesses can visit www.cumberland.gov.uk or contact the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.

Councillor Bob Kelly, Executive Member for Cumberland Environment and Planning, said:

“We understand how upsetting and frustrating it can be to have your property flooded, and we are here to help. Please remember to report it to the council so that our team can work with you and ensure we have the information needed to ensure that the right support and resources are available.”

Residents are encouraged to share this message with friends, family, and neighbours who may also have been affected.
