Millom Town Deal inspires local students to help shape the town’s future

Representatives from the Millom Town Deal Board have visited Millom Infants School as part of their ongoing engagement with local schools.

The visit on Tuesday 13 May, provided a chance to share updates on the Town Deal and introduce younger pupils to the exciting changes planned for Millom’s future.

This visit is part of a wider initiative to involve the community in the Town Deal’s vision, with a particular emphasis on young people as future contributors to Millom’s long-term development.

Nearly 200 local students from across the area have now been recruited as part of the Millom Town Deal Ambassador Programme. These young ambassadors will help promote the aims of the Town Deal while gaining a deeper understanding of how regeneration projects work and why they matter. Their involvement is central to ensuring the voices of future residents are heard as the town moves forward.

Millom Town Deal Ambassadors are local schoolchildren who have been invited to take on an active role in supporting and promoting the vision of the Town Deal.

Through the programme, they will learn more about how regeneration projects work, help share information within their schools and families and contribute their own ideas and perspectives on how Millom can grow and improve. By participating, these young people are being given a meaningful opportunity to engage in community change and understand how decisions being made today will impact their futures.

David Savage, Millom Town Deal Board Chair said:

“The Millom Town Deal Board would like to express thanks to all Head Teachers and school staff who have helped deliver this message and supported the launch of the Ambassador Programme.

“The Board looks forward to returning to local schools later this year to share further updates and continue working closely with Millom’s future residents.”

The £29.3 million Millom Town Deal is a key part of efforts to revitalise the town’s infrastructure and community spaces through significant government and partner investment.
