Cumberland Council is inviting families to learn more about how they can support their child’s early movement at Starting2Move, a pop-up event in Carlisle on Wednesday 15 October 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm, outside the Tourist Information Centre, Carlisle.
Starting2Move is a pilot initiative designed to help parents and carers feel confident in encouraging movement and play in babies and young children.
The event is a chance for families to:
- Pick up simple movement and play ideas to use at home and in everyday routines.
- Build confidence in supporting their child’s movement.
- Collect a free toy that encourages movement*
- Connect with local organisations and other families in a friendly and supportive place.
- Learn about activities and events in their local area that promote play and movement.
Most importantly, families will go away with new ways to enjoy moving together and to make movement a happy part of daily life.
