
Voters in Egremont are being advised to be ready for a local election which is taking place next month.
An election is being held for one seat on Egremont Town Council, representing the South ward. The election is being run by Cumberland Council and the poll will take place on Thursday April 24, 2025.
Residents living in the ward will not receive a poll card for this election, however, all information such as polling station details, will be published on Cumberland Council’s website at https://www.cumberland.gov.uk/voting-and-elections/current-local-elections.
The candidates are:
· COLLEY, Christopher John, ReformUK - Changing Politics for Good
· HAILES, Jeffrey, The Conservative Party Candidate
· TEAR, Janette Ruth, The Labour Party

Over the coming days there are some key deadlines for voters wishing to take part, which are:
· Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Friday 4 April 2025. Applications can be made online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
· Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Monday 7 April 2025.
The following deadlines are in place for later this month:
· Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Monday 14 April. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.
· Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025.
· Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 24 April 2025.
