The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven has received an outstanding 97% overall quality score following its latest VisitEngland Quality Assessment, carried out earlier this month.
The result represents an increase on the museum’s previous assessment and strong recognition of the high-quality experience offered to visitors.
The VisitEngland assessor highlighted the consistently high standards across all areas of the museum, recognising the strength of its offer and the care taken to ensure a positive and engaging visitor experience.
Praise was given to the museum’s clear and helpful pre-visit information, which makes it easier for visitors to plan their trip, as well as its strong learning and community education programme. The quality of the permanent collections and the variety of temporary exhibitions were also highlighted as key strengths. Staff were described as a real highlight, with particular mention of the friendly and welcoming approach from both paid staff and volunteers. The result reflects the hard work, commitment and professionalism shown by the entire team in delivering a consistently high standard of service.
Councillor Anne Quilter, Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places at Cumberland Council said:
