Bridge repair works planned at Cammock Cottage Bridge, Brisco

Highways team member and van

Cumberland Council will begin essential maintenance works on the C1041 at Cammock Cottage Bridge on Tuesday 1 September 2026, with works expected to take approximately four weeks, subject to weather and site conditions.

To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the travelling public, the road will be closed 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the scheme. A signed diversion route will be in place and access will be maintained to adjacent properties and field entrances at all times.

Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will also be maintained throughout the works.

The closure will affect a section of the C1041 near Cammock Cottage Bridge, with a diversion route signed via the unrestricted sections of the C1041 Brisco Road, Lamb Street, Scalegate Road, C1037 and Newbiggin Road.

We appreciate that road closures can cause inconvenience and would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while these important improvements are carried out.

Residents with specific access requirements or any questions about the scheme can contact the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736 or visit the Cumberland Council website and quote'C1041, Cammock Cottage Bridge, Brisco – Bridge Repair Works'.
