Cumberland Council will be carrying out essential carriageway resurfacing and drainage improvement works on the C1041 at Wreay, beginning Monday 16 February 2026. These works are part of the council’s continued programme to maintain and improve the safety, resilience and quality of the highway network.
The works will take place in two phases, running consecutively and subject to weather and site conditions:
Programme of works:
- Carriageway Resurfacing
Monday 16 February – Wednesday 18 February 2026
Location: High Wreay Farm to Wreay Village
- Drainage Improvement Works
Thursday 19 February – Friday 27 February 2026
Location: Near Low Hurst Motorway Bridge
To allow these essential improvements to be completed safely, a road closure will be in place during the works (excluding weekends). A signed diversion route will operate throughout the closure to assist road users travelling through the area.
Access Arrangements
- Working hours: 8.00am – 4.00pm daily
- Emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists: Access will be maintained at all times
- Waste collection: Services will continue as normal
- School buses: Services will operate as usual
