Carriageway improvement works planned between Sarkhall and Oak Bank, Longtown

Cumberland Council will be carrying out carriageway improvement works to repair potholes along the route between Sarkhall and Oak Bank, in Longtown, starting from Monday 20 April 2026.

The works are expected to take around 10 working days, subject to weather and site conditions, and will be carried out between 8.00am and 4.00pm each day. 

To allow the works to be completed safely, the road will be closed for the duration of the scheme, with a signed diversion route in place.

Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Cumberland Council would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding while these essential maintenance works are carried out.
