Families across Cumberland are being encouraged to make the most of a new summer travel offer that will see children travel free on participating bus services throughout August.
The initiative, funded by the UK Government through its Great British Summer Savings campaign, allows children aged five to 15 to travel free between 1 and 31 August, helping families save money during the school holidays.
The offer aims to make it easier and more affordable for families to enjoy days out, access activities, visit friends and relatives, and explore more of Cumberland during the summer.
Whether visiting the coast, heading into town, exploring the countryside or travelling to summer clubs and activities, free bus travel can help families reduce the cost of getting around.
Cumberland Council is supporting the promotion of the scheme and encouraging residents to consider travelling by bus this summer.
Karl Melville, Cumberland Council's Assistant Director for Highways & Transport, said:
"We know the summer holidays can be an expensive time for families. This offer provides a fantastic opportunity for children to travel for free throughout August, helping families save money while making it easier to access activities, attractions and services across Cumberland.
"We hope residents take advantage of the scheme and discover just how convenient and affordable bus travel can be."
