Cumberland Council will be carrying out essential drainage improvement works near Fenton to help maintain the condition of the highway and reduce the risk of flooding.
The works will take place outside Glenburn, How Mill, Fenton (CA8 9JZ), with activity scheduled from Monday 29 June to Friday 10 July 2026. The scheme will run for 10 working days, with working hours between 8am and 4pm each day.
To allow the works to be completed safely, the road will be closed on a 24-hour basis for the full duration of the scheme, with an approved diversion route in place.
During this period, vehicular access to properties within the works area will not be possible. However, access for emergency services will be maintained at all times, along with access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
The council appreciates that road closures can cause inconvenience and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while these essential works are carried out.
Residents who require special access arrangements or further information are encouraged to contact the council via the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736 or visit the council website: www.cumberland.gov.uk/roads.
