Cumberland Council will carry out repair works to Cumwhinton Ex-Railway Bridge from Monday 28 September 2026.
The works are expected to take two weeks to complete, subject to weather and site conditions, and will help to improve safety and extend the life of the bridge.
To protect the workforce and the public, the road will be closed while work is taking place. Working hours will be between 9am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. The area will be made safe and the road reopened outside these hours.
A signed diversion route will be in place during the closure.
Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists who dismount will be maintained at all times. Waste collections will continue as normal.
We recognise that road closures can cause disruption and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while this important work is completed. We will reopen the road outside the working hours when it is safe to do so.
