Cumberland Council will be carrying out essential maintenance works on Blaze Bridge on the U2199, Lorton to help maintain the safety and condition of the structure for road users.
The works are scheduled to begin on Monday 6 July 2026 and will take place over five days, subject to weather and site conditions.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, a temporary road closure will be in place during working hours, with closure times between 9am and 3.30pm each day.
A signed diversion route will be clearly in place for the duration of the works. Access for emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
These works form part of Cumberland Council’s ongoing programme of maintenance to ensure bridges and highways across the area remain safe and reliable.
The council appreciates that closures can cause some disruption and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while these improvement works are carried out.
Residents who have specific access requirements or would like further information are encouraged to contact the council via the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736 or visit the council website.
