Essential Carriageway Resurfacing – Ulpha to Dunnerdale

Highways team member and van

Cumberland Council will shortly begin essential carriageway resurfacing works at Ulpha to Hall Bridge at Dunnerdale.

Works are scheduled to start on Monday 9 February 2026 and are expected to take up to two weeks, subject to weather and site conditions.

To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public, the works will be carried out under a full road closure. Traffic marshals will be on-site throughout to assist residents in accessing their properties where possible. Access for refuse collections will be maintained when safe to do so.

The works will take place Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 6.00pm.

Access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

Residents with special access requirements, or anyone seeking further information, are encouraged to contact Cumberland Council’s Highways Team on 0300 373 3736, or visit cumberland.gov.uk.
