Essential Carriageway Resurfacing Works – A595 Gateside to Beckside Bridge, Whicham Valley

Carriageway resurfacing works

Cumberland Council will begin essential carriageway resurfacing and footway reconstruction works on the A595 Gateside to Beckside Bridge, Whicham Valley.

Works are scheduled to start today, (Monday 16 February 2026) and are expected to last for up to two weeks, subject to weather and site conditions.

To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public, the works will be carried out under a full road closure. Traffic marshals will be on-site at all times to assist residents in reaching their properties where possible. Access for refuse collections will also be maintained when safe to do so.

The works will take place Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 6.00pm.

Access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists.
